Following his admission to the Bar, Mr. Maloney practiced law in Manhattan and, commencing in 1970, on the East End of Long Island. Between 1978 and 1986, Mr. Maloney resided in Spain.  He joined Esseks, Hefter & Angel in September, 1986, and practiced for three decades as an associate, partner, and counsel to the firm, until his retirement in 2017.
