Christine Perrucci Smith Counsel

Christine joined the firm in April, 2014 and works within its real estate, corporate, and estate administration practice groups.

Within the firm’s real estate practice group, Christine handles residential real estate matters, representing buyers and sellers in transactions involving single-family homes, condominiums, and co-operative units.  Her experience ranges from simpler broker listing agreements and house sales transactions to more complex transactions involving high-end waterfront, agricultural and commercial properties.  Throughout her career, Christine has represented various lenders in residential purchase and refinance transactions, and she currently acts as lender’s counsel for a leading agricultural credit institution, often getting involved in the unique lending and land use issues affecting farms and wineries on the East End of Long Island.  Christine also counsels landlords and tenants negotiating commercial and residential lease agreements, as well as owners negotiating architectural or construction contracts.

As part of the firm’s business formation and sales practice group, Christine works with various business entity clients, including corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships, counseling them from the initial formation of the entity and assisting with on-going corporate governance.  When clients are interested in selling their business or purchasing an existing business, Christine handles all aspects of the transaction from negotiating the terms through closing the deal.

Additionally, Christine handles estate administration matters, representing nominated executors in probate matters and family members or other interested parties in administration matters for intestate decedents.  She assists in the preparation and filing of necessary documents with the Surrogate’s Court and counsels fiduciaries, after their appointment by the court, through the administration of the estate from the marshaling of assets to the accounting, final distribution and closure of the estate.

Before joining the firm, Christine obtained her undergraduate degree from Union College in 2003 and her law degree from Hofstra University in 2008.  At Union, she co-authored, with one of her professors, an article that was published in The Judges’ Journal, a quarterly publication of the American Bar Association’s Judicial Division.  Prior to law school, Christine worked full time at a busy Long Island law firm where she assisted with residential real estate purchases, sales and refinance transactions across Long Island and the five boroughs.  She also gained knowledge in the area of compliance working for in-house counsel at a national mortgage company.  While attending Hofstra Law, Christine continued to supplement her studies working at real estate and general practice law firms on Long Island and mediating cases in small claims court through Hofstra’s Mediation Clinic.

Christine is a native Long Islander and lives in Manorville with her family.
